Malacca Satay Celup @Ban Lee Siang

By On December 10, 2009 Under food, Malaysia, Photography, Travel

What is Satay Celup? It is Lok Lok with Satay sauce. I guess this is the simplest explanation I can give. And if you come to Malacca, you should never miss this, this is what all tourists were told.

Seem like there are 2 gangs of supporters, some prefer Capitol while some support Ban Lee Siang. This time we visited Ban Lee Siang, just because the shop is larger and so should have higher opportunity to get empty seats. Capitol Satay Celup is a smaller shop and when we were on the way to Ban Lee Siang, we passed by Capitol and saw people were queuing at the road side.

When we arrived Ban Lee Siang at 5:30pm, there already had people finished eating. Huh?! I thought Marshall said they open only at 5:30pm. Anyway, we were lead to the back alley. Too good business sia?!

Because we already planned to eat seafood later, so just took a very small portion of 6 of us. Each stick is RM0.50 and for red colour stick is RM0.60.

Waiting for the food to boil. A good satay celup is heavily rely on the satay sauce. So time to time, the crew would come to help us refill and blend the sauce. This is to ensure the peanuts in the satay sauce won’t stick to the bottom of the pot.

This meal we spent less than RM40. When leaving the place, the queue was just about to start, people already standing around looking for empty table.
