Marina Barrage – Reservoir In the City

By paikia On September 27, 2009 Under Photography, Singapore

It has been a long time I haven’t been to Marina. My last visit was 5 years ago having a steamboat gathering at there. Now everything has changed, no more steamboat shops, but with many new constructions has been carried out.

Yesterday, I spent half day went over to take a look of Singapore’s reservoir in the city – Marina Barrage. It is also the 15th Singapore’s reservoir. We took the MRT and alighted at Marina station. Follow the signboard to a nearby temporary bus stop to take bus number 400. There is free shuttle bus service around, but the interval of the shuttle bus and public bus is 20 minutes. So if you missed the shuttle bus, suggest taking the public bus.

The place is quite ulu, since nothing much to see at the moment, especially the Sand Casino is not yet ready. The 1st storey is the information counter, souvenir shop and a restaurant. Then at 2nd storey is the Singapore Sustainable Gallery.

The gallery is not big, just less than 15mins you should be able to walk finish, including seeing the small demo on how the dam work. Overall quite informative, learn the stories behind this reservoir.

There is this nice fountain over there. But too bad we visited in the afternoon, with the night lightings the fountain looks even awesome.

Small kids playing around at the fountain. Took this picture when this innocent boy saw the girl fell down and don’t know what to do.

Surprisingly, there were a lot teenagers around even the weather was hot. Flying kites, listen music, picnic, quite a lot activities around at the roof garden.

Above is my first attempt on creating a tilt-shift miniature effect of the Marina Barrage
