O2 Mini Review

by paikia on Tuesday, Aug 16, 2005

After 10 days of using my O2 mini, I would say it’s really a great device! Before starting to drag all data into this hp, better go their o2 web site to register online and also update their latest rom. They stated they have great improvement on sound quality on the latest version, although I din’t notice any special.

Accessories
1. Martin Field Overlay - this screen protection a little pricy but really is a must! I at first used some cheapo screen protection at pasar malam, but the effect really an obstruction to my screen with low transparency rate and lousy surface.
2. Gad Wrap - This looks cool to wrap ur mini with a layer of cool design coat. I will go for it if i got some extra money for the customization.

I have silicon casing for my mini on the first few days, but then, I din’t like the feeling of grabbing it, YUCKS, very sticky feeling and always catch up all kinds of dirt and hairs on the casing surface. Hm.. Maybe that’s why some men don’t like silicon women :annoyed_tb: .

Input Setting

I tried all those input methods, then finally still settle down with the On Screen Keyboard. There are some opinions on those input methods.
1. Block Recognizer - I already learn their character recognize method, but they still not 100% accurate recognize my pen stroke.
2. Transcriber - take long time to recognize and not very accurate in recognize my handwritting.
3. Phone Pad - take up too much screen space.

Extra Software installed on my mini:
1. Spb pocket plus - extra add on to the Today, allow users to self define favourite icons for easier access.
2. SBSH PocketBreeze - a better interface to replace Calender, reminder and Task on the Today
3. Wordbook - an english dictionary
4. PocketMusic - a mp3 players software, just to replace the build in windows media player
5. AdvantLogic Transport Guide - singapore bus and mrt guide, a demo version with limited function. but quite useful as a bus guide.
6. CE-Star -a nice chinese viewer under Windows CE 2003 SE.

Other build in softwares I often use like the Note and Msn Messenger. I still haven’t explored the Word, Excel and Acrobat yet. Oh, just in case, I miss out any good ppc software on earth, users can go to best ppc software awards 2005 nomination to find out all those gems.
