Messenger Plus! Live Script *Fix Personal Message

by paikia on Sunday, Jul 2, 2006

I think few of people outside have this mystery problem of cannot get their Windows Live Messenger to remember their personal message. After days for searching on internet to hope I can obtain solution outside. Some fix is as simple as just untick the not to store personal message in option, or complicated approach is their ZoneAlarm software. But this doesn’t work at all! I don’t even have ZoneAlarm in the first place.

Thus, many times I’m frustrated because I need to fill up the personal message again and again. So last night after the lose of England penalty shoot-out. I wrote my first Messenger Plus! Live script.

After reading Messenger Plus! Live own scripting documentation, spending 1 hour to get familiarize with it and debug. I finally fix my damn Windows Messenger Live problem! It’s very simply code, just 17 lines and with only 4 major equation. Then also learn how to pack the code into package for ease of others to install it without pain. :smirk2_ee:

Brief explanation:
Just after WLM signed in any individual accounts, Plus! will start to read personal message stored previously, if any, in registry based on different user id, so more than no matter how many users will be using the same computer the personal message info also won’t be mess up. Then when signing out or direct exit WLM, Plus! will write the personal message back to the registry again, as a key for next time to use again.

Therefore, until Microsoft has looked into this matter and solve it, else I will be using this script all the way down. Lousy Microsoft, what took them so long to write this 4 lines?!

Download Script: PersonalMessage.plsc ( less than 1KB, can be directly installed )
Required Windows Live Messenger and Messenger Plus! Live.

You mentioned the registry. A question out of sheer curiosity: which reg key actually holds this data? I remember searching for it a while ago.
