Malacca Trip @ Cheng Hoon Teng & Masjid Kampung Kling

By On December 16, 2009 Under Life, Malaysia, Photography, Travel

Forgive me for the slow update speed. I’m too busy with so many things lately, from my work, new startups, course training, CES projects etc.

Return back to that time, after we had Satay Celup, we then went back to Jonker Street again to visit two of the famous temples in Malacca, Masjid Kampung Kling and Cheng Hoon Teng.

Masjid Kampung Kling was built in 1748. It was more than 250 years old. It is one of the oldest mosques in Malaysia. One thing unique about the mosque is that it was built on square plan. So that is very different from the mosques we saw nowadays.

Although at the road sides was full of parking cars, the street was remain quiet and no traffic at all. I guess maybe few streets away from here had the Jonker street night market and everyone knew that it was going to be disaster if driving.

Another famous Chinese temple – Cheng Hoon Teng 青云亭 was just located down the street. This historical temple was founded 1645. It was getting 400 years old. Just found out they even got the official web site! Wow, now even temple also so high tech. chenghoonteng.org.my.

Not sure whether we came at the abnormal time or not, the temple was eventually very quiet too. I thought as a tourist spot, it should be flooded with tourists.

We walked around the place and looking up and down for something interesting to shoot.
