Google Reader机密档案

几天前，看到一个关于Google Reader目前及未来走向的文章。说是被Google的人员Ben Darnell“泄露”在Google Video上，但之后没视频被拿下来了。

我们所看到的feeds更新，有分每小时更新或每三小时更新。这在于订阅的人数是否大于1个。而有2/3的feeds是每小时更新的。原来有好多feeds都是个别的订户。

Google Reader目前使用10TB的容量来储存8百万个Feeds。而每星期Google Reader在以4%的成长速度。而70%的Google Reader浏览是使用Firefox。

而最近Google Reader上搜索服务开放，其实消耗更多的计算。
一个是将所有的文章index起来。动用了150台电脑来对600百万则文章每天两次的更新记录。（算起来平均每个Feed有 600百万/8百万 = 75篇文章）
而另一个这是进行小规模的index，动用了40台电脑在每5分钟对最新的文章大约是40百万篇文章做更新记录。

• 国际版Google Reader
• 推荐Feeds的功能
• 接受pings发送到Google Blog Search
• 允许在feeds上留言
• 加入Adsense
