File Sharing

To share or not to share? Friends are still asking when will my server be back. I had stopped sharing about 1 year, but they dint seem to forget me.

Actually setting up a server on own pc quite troublesome. Not only sharing those files, let the pc on for 24 hrs, also need to share other resources, like the memory. My harddisk was spoilt last time due to the great amount of tasks added on the harddisk. Luckily wif the warranty, i got a new one back but the data all were lost. My 512 MB ram of memory often dropped to 0 MB during the last sem sharing. My pc was quite slow and lag at tat time.

I’m now figuring whether the new windows server 2003 is better than xp. And whether bandwidth limitation setting on the ftp will help to reduce the usage of memory and harddisk. If there is a way not using a lot of my pc resouces, i’m willing to share again.
