I remember watching the G4Tech Tv show , ppl there madly giving out 7000 gmail invitations and temporary caused a break down on gmail server.

- Problem
Yesterday, I can’t execute or delete certain files on my pc.

- Solution
At first, I thought of some other softwares are holding it, in this case, I could hardly delete it, until I terminate the program. But unfornately this wasn’t the case.

Took me more than one hour to identify the actual problem. In between, I thought maybe it’s hard disk failure, I even go for a scan disk process. ( The most frustrating process should be the defragment of xp, lucky i dint undergo that. )

It’s the NTFS user’s right problem. ( The NTFS partition format is developed for more secure system, which other pc users on the same pc could not access or modify the file without the original user’s permissions. ) Therefore, just booting the xp in safe mode, and use the administrator account, the highest rights of all, to modify back the files to mine.

- Conclusion
Till now, the only question lies my mind is why those files are not under my rights in the first place, I’m the only user account in my pc. Is it a new virus or a xp sp2 bug? If someone creates virus based on this, this would really irritate all, since most pc users don’t know to fix this problem.

- Advise
Better keep an administrator account as a backup. Some of my friends dint even remember their admin password or directly using their admin account as basic account.

My friends would terribly mad at me, if not putting this year ‘blockbuster’ movie on the ‘coming soon’ section. Not because it’s not expecting, but we really don know when it will be released. Mostly end of 2004 or early of 2005. Hope to see new elements within this Hong Kong comedy.

Just a very minor thought comes to my mind. Each days, I receive tons and tons of junk mail. But is it useful to use the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of those mail?

Those junk mails might just randomly send to user’s mail box, the sender doesn’t actually know whether the spam is read by user or not. Therefore, setting up a “unsubscribe” link for user to click on might just only a trap, sender is able to collect some infomations from that click, like ‘this specific email, xxx@xxx.com, is geniune’ or ‘this user does read our junk mail’.

So, the main purpose of the unsubscribe not really removing yourself out of the mailing list, but to leak out your trace and lead to bring in more junk mail into your account.

I not sure about it, just an evil guess of mine.

I’m more free than any previous semester in the entire 4 year uni life. Only 2 day classes each week. But yet, i still very slack to keep up with the lecture progress.

The mid term break is coming, I better finish reading the notes.
